Activities
On 15-16 November in Chisinau was organized the 3rd Edition of the National Forum and the 2nd Edition of the NGO Fair. A total of 200 persons took part in the event, i.e. more than 120 Moldovan NGOs, local and central government, NGOs from abroad, journalists and others. The National NGO Council, "CONTACT" NGO Support Center and the Association for the Development of Participatory Democracy "ADEPT" organized the Forum.
The concept of the 3rd edition of the NGO Forum differed from the other editions, especially due to the increased participation of grassroots NGOs. Another distinction was that the discussions focussed on issues of interest to NGO community as well as to local government and international organizations operating in Moldova and means of jointly solving them. Furthermore, NGO representatives discussed a Code of Best Practices to which Moldovan NGOs could adhere.
Participants to the Forum adopted a series of resolutions aimed to solve the problems the sector is facing. Participants also approved a new procedure of electing the National NGO Council, a body implementing Forum resolutions and promoting civil society interests in relations with other institutions.
It was decided that representatives of different fields of NGO activity would be delegated to the National NGO Council. These will be selected at the assemblies of the relevant fields. National NGO Council will also include the organizers of the Forum. Members of the NGO Council will work as volunteers and be assisted by the "CONTACT" Center.
During the final plenary session participants adopted a final declaration.
