New CEC membership


The new composition of the Central Election Commission (CEC) was appointed on November 11, 2005 for a five-year mandate, in line with amendments to Article 16 of the Election Code:

  • 1 member is appointed by the President of the Republic;
  • 1 member is appointed by the Government;
  • 7 members are appointed by the Parliament, including 5 by the opposition parties.

The new composition of the CEC elected its administration:

Chairman

    Eugen STIRBU - appointed by the Parliament (parliamentary faction representing the Democratic Party of Moldova)

Deputy Chairwoman

    Renata LAPTI - appointed by the Parliament (parliamentary faction representing the Christian Democratic People's Party)

Secretary

    Iurie CIOCAN - appointed by the Parliament (parliamentary faction representing the Party of Communists of Moldova)

Members

    Mihai BUSULEAC - appointed by the Parliament (parliamentary faction representing the "Our Moldova" Alliance)
    Vasile GAFTON - appointed by the Parliament (parliamentary faction representing the Democratic Party of Moldova)
    Nicolae GIRBU - appointed by the Parliament (parliamentary faction representing the "Our Moldova" Alliance)
    Victor KOSTETKI - appointed by the Parliament (parliamentary faction representing the Party of Communists of Moldova)
    Pavel MIDRIGAN - appointed by the Government of the Republic of Moldova
