Events of major importance

Resignation of the Minister of Justice

By Governmental decision, Alexandru Tanase is appointed by transfer to the position of the judge in the Constitutional Court for a six year-term. Prime Minister Filat did not comment in detail the situation, being confined to the assertion that this decision belongs exclusively to Tanase. Initially, Tanase either did not make too many statements, confirming that he wanted himself to go to the Constitutional Court. Later on, Tanase gave several interviews and statements, whereby he hinted that he is not satisfied with how things are going on in the PLDM, the obstacles that have arisen in promoting some reforms and with the diversion from certain values that it previously subscribed for when forming the PLDM.

ADEPT Note: On April 14, 2011 Alexandru Tanase sworn in as the judge of the Constitutional Court, but the governmental reshuffle was not carried out and another person was not appointed as the Minister of Justice, although the Prime Minister had announced previously that he will take this decision in restricted period regarding the proper candidate.
