Serafim Urechean called on Chisinau residents

Former Chisinau mayor Serafim Urechean, chairman of the Alliance Our Moldova (AMN), called on Chisinau residents at a news conference:

Dear residents of Chisinau!

Following your wishes and proposals after the 2003 local elections, I outlined new plans and ideas aimed to make the activity of the municipal authorities more transparent and efficient. Being responsible for fate of these plans and initiatives, I invite you to support independent candidate Dumitru Braghis, who is backed by AMN — the only political force which maintained its dignity and assumed responsibility for the vote of country’s citizens.

I invite you to make an evident difference between political experiments and recklessness and real chances to maintain the deserved epithet of Bulwark of Democracy and promoter of reforms and European integration of Moldova for Chisinau and its residents. It is a too big stake to afford the luxury of games aimed to recover the image of compromised political forces participating in maintenance of a democratic background for anti-constitutional actions of the Communist governing. Interests and problems of the capital oppose the election of incompetent people or persons who would serve the narrow interests of the communist-frontist group to rule the municipal administration.

Chisinau needs a mayor with dignity, political and managerial experience, capable to assume responsibility for maintenance of civic stability and harmony in capital.

Retirees will be allowed to vote on basis of Soviet-type passports

CEC chairman Petru Railean told a seminar on training of electoral functionaries that retirees will be allowed to vote on basis of Soviet-type passports which will expire on July 1, at the July 10 early local elections. Citizens will be allowed to cast their votes on basis of the following documents: identity card with annex, including the expired ones, temporary documents kit # 9. No passports will be accepted for voting because they indicate no residence of citizens. The stamp “voted” will be applied in documents of electors in order to avoid a multiple voting.
