Elections for General Mayor of Chisinau municipality of June 5 and 19, 2011
The June 2011 elections were the sixth electoral campaign for General Mayor of Chisinau municipality. In the first round none of the 13 candidates received necessary 50% of votes needed for an outright win. Therefore, the runoff elections were held on June 19 between Igor Dodon and Dorin Chirtoaca, the two candidates who received the largest number of votes in the first round on June 5. The voter turnout was 59.88%, although there is no voter turnout threshold for the runoff local elections. Dorin Chirtoaca, the incumbent General Mayor of Chisinau municipality, was re-elected for a second term.
