The blockage of the City Hall accounts undermines the preparations for the elections in Chisinau

The municipal authorities warned that the blockage of the Chisinau’s City Hall bank accounts during more weeks jeopardizes the preparations for the good organization of the parliamentary elections in that constituency. The Chisinau mayor, Dorin Chirtoaca, stated that he intents to inform CEC of the current situation. He suggested to the officials responsible for organizing the elections to negotiate with the economical agents the possibility of paying later for the services concerning getting ready the polling sections.

PLDM considers itself intimidated

The Prosecutor’s Anticorruption Office extended for three months the defendant status of Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) leader, Vlad Filat, in three penal cases for assumed economical crimes, committed more than 10 years ago. Vlad Filat stated that the instituted cases against him are part of the intimidation strategy, in order to impeach PLDM from carrying on its campaign.

PL invokes international institutions for the electoral process monitoring

The Liberal Party (PL) organized a press conference where the governmental party was accused of miming and sabotaging the European integration process of the Republic of Moldova. PL addressed itself to the European Council, to the European Commission and other international institutions, and to USA, demanding their involvement in the monitoring of the electoral process in Moldova.

Social or electoral bread?

The official press agency “Moldpres” announced that the main state capital bread-baking plant “Franzeluta” reduced the prices for pasta with 12–15% starting February 9, and that, by acquiring products in bulk, the price will be 20%-25% smaller. “Moldpress” calls the bread that got cheaper at the recommendation of the state’s president, also Chairman of the Communists Party (PCRM), — “social bread”. The opposition parties call it “electoral bread”.
