Final preparations for elections

In the presence of the electoral contestants’ representatives, Central Electoral Commission of Gagauzia has printed the ballot papers for elections of the Bashkan, on December 3, 2006. 85 thousands of ballot papers have been printed in order to be distributed to those three electoral commissions. 2 days prior to the election day they are to be received by the polling stations electoral bureaus.

By November 24, 21 national and international observers were accredited so that to monitor regional elections on December 3, 2006. By the election day it is expected the their number will increase significantly.

Appeal in M.Formuzal’s support

Central Bureau of the Social-Democratic Party of Moldova (PSDM) has released an appeal to people from the ATU Gagauzia, which comes to give political support to the candidate M. Formuzal and calls for his election as the Governor of Gagauzia on December 3, 2006. In the same time, PSDM calls on public authorities to assure fair and equal conditions with regard to expression of the citizens will, to show respect for democratic principles, accordingly to the electoral laws and international standards. Popular Republican Party (PRP) is another political force that has announced its support in favour of M. Formuzal. A declaration of PRP calls on the autonomy inhabitants to vote for the mayor of Ceadir-Lunga town and chairperson of the PRP Republican Council — M.Formuzal.
