New members of CEC

The Parliament appointed on November 11 new members of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC). Under provisions of Article 16 of the Election Code, CEC includes 9 members appointed the following way:

Following are the new CEC members:

  1. Valentin Vizant (CEC secretary), appointed by chief of state.
  2. Pavel Midrigan (representative of the Communist Party in CEC), appointed by Government.
  3. Mihai Busuleac, (former CEC member), appointed by Parliament.
  4. Iurie Ciocan (CEC member), appointed by Parliament.
  5. Victor Costetki (CEC member), appointed by Parliament.
  6. Vasile Gafton, appointed by Parliament.
  7. Nicolae Girbu (representatives of the Alliance Our Moldova), appointed by Parliament.
  8. Renata Lapte, appointed by Parliament.
  9. Eugen Stirbu (municipal councillor and consultant of parliamentary faction representing the Democratic Party), appointed by Parliament.

The CEC members will elect the chairman, deputy chairman and secretary of CEC, with majority of votes, who will work permanently.
