Dorin Chirtoaca presented the performance report at the end of eight years in office

Chisinau municipality General Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca presented to the city’s population his performance report for last year and the results obtained during his two terms in this office. The report was traditionally presented in the Europe Square in the “Stefan cel Mare” central park.

The most visible projects declared by the current mayor included the reconstruction of the “Valea Morilor” lake and of the waste water treatment plant; repairs and reconstruction of 20 streets; purchase and assembly of 160 trolleybuses; arrangement of 300 playgrounds; construction of the pedestrian street; street lighting on Dacia boulevard to the airport; inauguration of the monument in the memory of victims of Stalin’s deportations; etc.

Among his future priorities, Chirtoaca named “creation of jobs without corruption; improvement of courtyards; renovation of public transport; repairs and modernization of streets; pedestrian safety; road traffic; access to medical services; waste transportation and recycling; parks development; support to and modernization of suburbs; rehabilitation of the historical center of Chisinau.”

He underlined that these tasks can be realized only with the support of external partners, first of all the European Union. // Infotag, jurnal.md

The PLDM announced their candidate for the capital’s general mayor’s office

According to a press release, the Chisinau Territorial Organization of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) decided to designate Serafim Urechean as party’s candidate for the office of Chisinau general mayor. The PLDM believes that Serafim Urechean has all the capacities to solve the problems that Moldova’s capital city faces.

Serafim Urechean is currently the chairman of the Court of Accounts. He was the general mayor of Chisinau in the period of 1994–2005 and prime deputy speaker of Parliament in 2009–2010.

The first independent candidate for Chisinau general mayor’s office

At a press conference, Ion Dron, the chairman of the public association Center for Initiatives and Public Authorities Monitoring, announced his joining the race for Chisinau mayor’s office as independent candidate. He said that he had decided to join the electoral campaign because he could not remain indifferent. He claims that he had worked honestly and with unconditional devotion for 20 years in the field of law, and that his decision to run for the capital’s mayor’s office is determined by his will to “stop the theft of public money.” // IPN
