Electoral contestants submitted their first financial reports to the CEC

In the first weeks of electoral campaign, electoral contestants spent nearly three million lei. The numbers appear in the financial reports presented by nine political parties to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC). According to these reports, “Partidul Nostru (Our Party)” spent the most money, about 1.5 million lei, followed by the Party of Socialists, which indicated 1.2 million lei expenses in its financial reports. The Liberal Party spent 9,400 lei, the “Platforma Populară Europeană din Moldova (European People’s Platform of Moldova) — Iurie Leancă” electoral bloc indicated expenses of 7,500 lei, and the Party of Communists spent 4,005 lei. The Democratic Party and the Liberal Democratic Party, meanwhile, have spent no money on local elections so far. // Unimedia

Iurie Leanca’s electoral bloc presented its list of candidates for municipality councilors

The “Platforma Populara Europeana din Moldova (European People’s Platform of Moldova) — Iurie Leanca” electoral bloc submitted documents for the registration of its candidates for councilors in the Chisinau Municipality Council. The documents were brought in by the Platform’s Chairman Iurie Leanca and its candidate for the capital’s general mayor Oazu Nantoi. The list includes 36 candidates for councilors, and it still shall be completed later. The Platform’s leader said that in his opinion “it is the best team” of all he had seen that far. // realitatea.md

Our Party registered its list of candidates for municipal councilors

“Partidul Nostru (Our Party)” (PN) registered its list of candidates for councilors in the Chisinau Municipality Council (CMC). The documents were submitted by PN Chairman Renato Usatii and the party’s candidate for the capital’s general mayor Ilian Casu. According to Casu, the party’s team for the CMC is made of people that are not widely known, but are honest and professionals in their fields. // realitatea.md

The Ecologist Green Party submitted documents for general local elections

The Ecologist Green Party (PVE) submitted documents to register its candidates for the local elections in Chisinau municipality. The party introduced its candidate for the capital’s general mayor (party chairman Anatolie Prohnitchi) and candidates for councilors in the Chisinau Municipal Council. Anatolie Prohnitchi said that PVE has three priorities for Chisinau municipality: the administration system of the mayor’s office, which needs to be changed from its current Soviet-type form, the inefficiency of the Chisinau Municipal Council, and the capital’s environmental situation. // realitatea.md

The Group of Civic Initiative launched the “Electoral Test — General Local Elections” project

The project is an electronic platform intended to provide transparency of electoral contestants’ views on local problems. Thus, electoral contestants completed a questionnaire covering several areas, and voters, by answering the same questions in the questionnaire placed on www.testelectoral.md, can test the degree of coincidence of their electoral options with the programs of each of the electoral contestants. Project coordinator Rodion Gavriloi said at a press conference that the project covers four largest cities — Chisinau, Balti, Comrat and Cahul. // IPN

The PDM organizes Family Month in Moldova

At a press conference, the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) leader Marian Lupu said that over the following 30 days, the party is organizing Family Month in Moldova. By this initiative, the PDM wants to promote solidarity between families and members of local communities. In this sense, democrats will organize specific meetings in every district in the country, and the MPs and ministers representing the PDM will promote a number of measures for the benefit of families. In addition, the PDM will organize actions in all villages and cities in order to celebrate the International Day of Families on 15 May and the International Day for Protection of Children on 1 June.

The PSRM presented its candidates for mayors in the towns of Gagauzia

At a press briefing held in Comrat by the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) Chairman Igor Dodon, the party presented its candidates for mayors of Comrat, Vulcanesti and Ceadir-Lunga. The candidate for mayor in Comrat is Alexandru Suhodolschi, in Ceadir-Lunga — Constantin Cheles, and in Vulcanesti — Roman Tiutin. The socialists’ leader mentioned that in the local elections in June the PSRM will run for local councils in all 26 electoral districts in the Gagauz autonomy, urging its population to vote for the “star” [the party’s symbol].
