CBS-AXA presented an opinion poll on elections for Chisinau mayor’s office

If local elections for Chisinau mayor took place next Sunday, Dorin Chirtoaca would obtain 33.7% of votes and Zinaida Greceanii — 24.5%, at least according to the latest survey conducted by CBS-AXA Center for Sociological Investigations. Thus, none of the two candidates would obtain enough votes to win the office in the first round. According to the survey, other candidates would obtain 5% and less: Oazu Nantoi — 5.1%, Serafim Urechean — 3.5%, Oleg Brega — 3.5%, Ilian Casu — 3%, Vasili Chirtoca — 2.3%, Monica Babuc — 1%, Grigore Petrenco — 0.5%. The rest of candidates would obtain even less.

The survey also shows that the majority of seats in the Chisinau Municipality Council (CMC) would be obtained by the liberals. When asked about the party representatives they would choose for membership in the CMC, respondents gave the following answers: 25.4% for the Liberal Party; 21.2% for the Party of Socialists; 7.2% for the European People’s Platform of Moldova — Iurie Leanca; 5.6% for Our Party; 3.4% for the Party of Communists; 2.8% and 1.6% for the Liberal Democratic Party and the Democratic Party.

The survey was conducted by CBS-AXA Center for Sociological Investigations in the period of 6–18 May on a sample of 1,621 persons and with a margin of error of 2.4%. // jurnal.md

Ilian Casu with his team has joined the electoral campaign

Our Party (PN) candidate for Chisinau mayor Ilian Casu and the party’s team of candidates for municipality councilors have joined the electoral race. The event was attended by PN leader Renato Usatii, who declared: “I’ve always said that we’d rather make known people from those unknown than opt for public persons that are known by 80% and have a 90% anti-rating. And I’ve also said that a plumber, for example, can’t manage the field of education, and an agronomist can’t manage medicine. We’ve chosen a strong team, worthy of such public offices, a professional and patriotic team.”

The CEC penalized several electoral contestants

11 political parties that registered their candidates for the general local elections of 14 June 2015 have been penalized by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) in the form of warning. According to the CEC, the penalty was applied for the reason that these political parties failed to submit financial reports within the terms set by law, so the 11 parties have 72 hours to submit financial reports according to legal requirements. Also, within three days, the Party of Socialists, Our Party, and the Liberal Party must submit additional information about the persons who made donations for them. // curentul.md
