Ruslan Belousov, candidate for mayor of Balti municipality, said at a press conference that after the elections of 14 June he will propose a referendum to decide on changing the capital city from Chisinau to Balti. “In our opinion, it would, first, facilitate attraction of investments to Balti and thus develop the region’s economy. Second, it would contribute to the separation of powers, if only the legislative power and the executive authorities ensuring national security were moved to Balti, while the Government stayed in Chisinau,” the candidate said. // IPN
