EU envoys wish a coalition with European vector

EU wants in Moldova to be created a governing coalition that will support the European vector of the country’s development. Statements to this effect were made by foreign ministers of Sweden, Carl Bildt, Poland, Radoslaw Sikorski, who were on a visit to Moldova. The two ministers, whose countries hold this and next year the EU presidency, met today with leaders of the four parties that have accessed to the Parliament, as well as with the Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs. In a press conference held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the two European officials expressed their optimism about the European future of Moldova, but also wanted to mention that a governance in coalition is not an easy process. The two ministers reiterated that EU supports Moldova and is going to support Moldova, and the Chisinau governance has done very well over the last year in framework of the Eastern Partnership, which increases the chances of having a liberalized economic and visa regime. Negotiations between PLDM, PDM and PL

Leaders of three parties that were part of AIE (PLDM, PDM and PL) announced that discussion of about 2 hours was constructive, it talked the principles that would lay the foundations for democratic governance for four years. After the meeting, the PL leader, Mihai Ghimpu, declared that the discussion focused on how the three parties see the possibility to establish a democratic governance that could achieve as the ultimate objective the EU integration. PDM leader, Marian Lupu, said that it was a dialogue with common positions, and some other ones are to be discussed, and PDM, when it is decided to make a coalition, will make its position public. Marian Lupu reiterated that until this moment absolutely nothing has been signed with any partner of a future coalition. Vlad Filat, PLDM leader, said it was a necessary discussion and it is an important step in these negotiations that began. The next trilateral meeting was scheduled for Friday, December 10.
