Oleg Caici officially withdrawn from the electoral race

Oleg Caici has been withdrawn from the electoral race for the office of Bashkan. The decision was made at the meeting of the Central Electoral Commission of Gagauzia on Friday, 27 February.

Therefore, there are 11 candidates for the office: Valerii Ianioglo, Serghei Buzadji, Ruslan Garbali, Nicolai Dudoglo, Irina Vlah, Oleg Garizan, Alexandr Stoianoglo, Serghei Cernev, Dmitrii Croitor, Ilia Anastasov, and Leonid Dobrov. // gagauzmedia.md

The PSRM allowed Irina Vlah to use the party symbol in the ballot

The Party of Socialists (PSRM) sent an application to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Gagauzia, allowing candidate Irina Vlah to use the political symbol of the PSRM as her electoral symbol.

However, CEC of Gagauzia Chairman Valentin Cara said that the deadline had been missed, since on 19 February the region’s CEC stopped accepting the documents and electoral signs and symbols from those who wanted to stand as candidates for Bashkan and members of the People’s Assembly. // gagauzmedia.md

The Party of Socialists objected to the electoral symbol of Valerii Ianioglo

“Initially, Ianioglo presented a five-pointed star as a symbol, with angles of 36 degrees each and one end looking straight up,” said Valentin Cara, the chairman of the region’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC).

Subsequently, the Party of Socialists addressed an application to the CEC, claiming that this symbol had been registered by the Ministry of Justice as an electoral symbol for the ballots for the parliamentary elections of 30 November 2014.

“To avoid eventual lawsuits, we asked Valerii Ianioglo to replace the star. Later, he presented a different symbol. Its angles had been changed and three smaller stars and laurels had been added,” Cara explained. // gagauzmedia.md
