Candu, Constantinov, and Formuzal discussed the situation in Gagauzia

Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Andrian Candu has met Chairman of the People’s Assembly Dmitrii Constantinov and current Bashkan of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal. At the meeting, the parties discussed the social, economic, and political situation in the region in the context of the electoral campaign for the elections of the Bashkan of Gagauzia.

According to Candu, Chisinau has been carefully observing the situation in Gagauzia, but without interfering into the electoral process. “We want the elections in Gagauzia to take place in normal conditions, in compliance with the legislation. Moreover, we will respect the choice of the autonomy’s residents and collaborate with the future Bashkan of Gagauzia, regardless of their political affiliation,” the speaker said. // moldpres.md

IMAS will not be able to conduct exit polls on the day of the Bashkan elections

The IMAS-INC Institute of Marketing and Polls will not be able to conduct exit polls on the day of the Bashkan elections because of a too tight schedule.

“The time that has remained until the elections does not allow us to organize this project so as to ensure high quality of results,” they say in the official response sent to the Central Electoral Commission of Gagauzia.

On 16 March, the autonomy’s CEC allowed the IMAS-INC Institute of Marketing and Polls to conduct exit polls on the day of elections at the exits from voting places. // gagauzmedia.md

The filming crew of VGTRK was not allowed to enter Moldova

On Wednesday, the filming crew of VGTRK (All-Russia State Broadcasting Company), which was on its way to cover the elections in Gagauzia, was not allowed to enter Moldova, and the journalists are returning to Moscow, Rossia 24 television Editor-in-Chief Yevgeny Bekasov told the RIA Novosti news agency.

“The filming crew headed by correspondent Alexandr Balitski, who was on its way to cover the elections in Gagauzia, was not allowed to enter the country. It is indicative of the fact that Moldova has a very aggressive and unfriendly attitude towards Russian mass media in general, that is not to mention the level of freedom of speech in this country,” Bekasov said, reminding that Rossia 24 is prohibited in Moldova.

According to him, none of the attempts by VGTRK to obtain official accreditation through the Central Electoral Commission of Moldova and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs led to a positive result. // ria.ru

Expert: Candidates must be legally required to participate in debates

Mihail Sircheli, chairman of the “Piligrim-Demo” Youth Center, believes that candidates for Bashkan should be legally required to participate in debates: “I am a supporter of the idea that the law should require candidates to participate in debates. Voters should know the candidates’ programs, how they see the solution of social and economic problems, and how justified their positions are.”

Ruslan Garbali refused to participate in debates on the public broadcaster GRT; debates on GagauzMedia, besides Garbali, will not be attended by Valerii Ianioglo, Nicolai Dudoglo, and Irina Vlah. // gagauzmedia.md
