The CEC of Gagauzia will not be testing the candidates’ for Bashkan knowledge of the Gagauz language

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of the Gagauz autonomy will not be testing the candidates’ for Bashkan knowledge of the Gagauz language because “it is an ill-timed proposal that came too late.”

At the CEC of Gagauzia meeting on 9 March in Comrat, its members examined the resolution of the “Pro-Eurasia” Integration Center, which demanded the CEC to test the candidates’ knowledge of the Gagauz language. The local legislation requires that the candidates for the head office of Gagauzia know the Gagauz language, “but the level of knowledge is not stipulated anywhere,” the CEC said. // gagauzinfo.md
