Representatives of local administration deny the boycott of referendum

Representatives of some localities of Basarabeasca district summoned a press conference in which they denied the information about non-participation in the referendum of September 5. The mayor of Sadaclia village, who is also chairman of the association of mayors from Basarabeasca district, said the non-participation of Basarabeasca district in the referendum would be “an invention of PCRM representatives within Basarabeasca City Council. In fact, authorities are ready for the referendum, the voters’ lists were prepared, and most people, including those of Russian and Gagauz origin, will participate in the referendum of September 5, and their choice is to elect the President by people”, said the mayor of Sadaclia village.

According to a survey, citizens would massively participate in the referendum

According to the survey “Socio-Political Barometer”, issued on August 23 by IMAS-INC, about 73 percent of citizens will participate in the referendum, and considering the external migration and the differences between declarative and actual behavior, it is estimated that voters’ turnout in referendum will exceed 50%. Out of these, nearly nine of 10 voters will vote “for” in the referendum.
