Several political parties nominated their candidates for presidential race
On August 31, 2016, eight political parties nominated their candidates for President of the Republic of Moldova in the presidential elections of 30 October 2016. The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova nominated Igor Dodon, the Liberal Party appointed Mihai Ghimpu, the European People’s Party of Moldova — Iurie Leanca, the “Action and Solidarity” Party — Maia Sandu, Our Party — Dumitru Ciubasenco, “Dignity and Truth” Platform — Andrei Nastase, Democratic Party of Moldova — Marian Lupu and “Right” Party has appointed Ana Gutu.
All those parties except the Democratic Party and the “Right” Party, submitted to the CEC on August 31, 2016 the application for registration of initiative groups to collect signatures in support of their candidates nominated for president.
