CEC has increased the number of ballots for polling stations abroad

Central Election Commission (CEC) has voted to increase the number of ballots to be provided for polling stations outside the country in the second round of the presidential elections. Thus, the number of ballots was increased by 10,500. According to the CEC decision, the total number of ballots for the runoff will be equal to 3,142,427, of which 2,391,283 in Romanian language and 751,144 — in Russian. Besides this, more ballots will be provided to some polling stations in Canada, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Portugal and the USA.

Mayors, retired ff political parties have declared their support for Maia Sandu

A group of mayors from the southern districts of the country, a group of members of the Union of Pensioners in Moldova and the Liberal Reformist Party called upon citizens to support the common candidate of the center-right opposition, Maia Sandu. Representatives of these groups urged the citizens to get out to vote and not be indifferent to their future.

At a press conference, a group of priests, headed by the Bishop of Balti and Falesti Marchel urged Christians to not stay indifferent to the future, to come to vote on November 13 and make the right choice. Clergymen urged parishioners not to vote for Maia Sandu, saying that she presents a “danger for the Church.” The priests said people should support a Christian and moral candidate, as is, in their opinion, Igor Dodon. // IPN

Maia Sandu team debunks Igor Dodon accusations with regard to suicide among children

At a press conference, the team of presidential candidate Maia Sandu, has rebuked accusations made by PSRM leader, Igor Dodon, during the electoral debate organized by ProTV. “It is outraging that Igor Dodon dared to use in his electoral campaign the suicide issue also making reference to incorrect numbers (400 children), insinuating that the suicide issues may be triggered by certain actions related to the education domain” said Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei, member of the Political Bureau of PAS.

In the same time, the founder of the Suicide Prevention Green Line, Liuba Ceban, has also responded to the accusations made by Igor Dodon. In a posting on facebook she noted that “suicide annually takes the lives of up to 30 children. Exagerating these figures may even contribute to an increase in the numbers”and “no one has ever committed suicide just out of a single motive. Number one reason is an internal one such as for example loneliness. Other reasons may be mental illness, physical illness. In no way the reason is video-cameras in the examination rooms”.
