CEC will open 30 additional polling stations on the left bank of Nistru

To ensure the voting rights of citizens living in the separatist region of Transnistria, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) will open 30 additional polling stations in the district of Floresti, Ungheni, Orhei and Soroca. “The voting procedure in these polling stations will be as previously established. Voting citizens will be included in additional lists, with the remark they are residents of the administrative units from the left bank”, said CEC member Vladimir Sarban. Voters can vote presenting their ID attesting domicile or residence in the left bank of Nistru localities.

Ilan Sor was registered as a trustee

Orhei mayor, Ilan Sor, who is under house arrest, was registered by CEC as a trustee of Inna Popenco, candidate of “Ravnopravie” Movement. According to CEC member, Iurie Ciocan, the current legislation does not establish restrictions on trustees, but neither provides procedural guarantees during the electoral period. Recently the party led by Ilan Sor released a statement saying that Inna Popenco does not have equal conditions to other candidates. Thats because her party leader has limited freedom of movement and can not promote her in the electoral campaign. // Ziarul National

Study: eight TV stations deviated from professional norms

Eight TV stations in Moldova registered deviations from the professional norms during the campaign for presidential election. The conclusion was made in a monitoring report conducted by the Independent Press Association and the Independent Journalism Center.

According to the study, private television stations with national coverage, Prime TV, Channel 2, Channel 3 and Publika TV broadcasted a large number of materials that promoted the governance. Jurnal TV allocated plenty of time to presenting Andrei Nastase positively. Accent TV and NTV have favored Igor Dodon. The public broadcaster Moldova 1 was slightly favoring Marian Lupu, mainly by positive news about the government. Realitatea TV, ProTV Chisinau, TV7 and N4 were relatively balanced, without obviously favoring or disfavoring candidates. // IPN

Maia Sandu requested video cameras in polling stations

Maia Sandu requested installation of surveillance cameras in every polling station at the elections of October 30. In this way everyone can follow online the voting process and exclude fraud, she said. According to PAS leader, it would be a “tool that will ensure that at least during the voting and votes counting the government will not resort to fraud and falsification.” // realitatea.md

Leanca: it is not the case for triumphal statements

In an interview with Radio Free Europe, the PPEM nominee for president, Iurie Leanca, spoke about the support given to Moldova by the external partners. “I would be more discreet in saying that Moldova has again full support from outside. It is not true. If you have already restored the trust of our partners — where are they? I do not see them here. This means it is not appropriate to make triumphal declarations, but is the case to look at what are the reasons Moldova failed to regain the positive attitude and intense dialogue it had until the end of 2014. The West expects first of all more resolute steps towards judicial reform — the key problem, and the fight against corruption in banking system, where the money from the West are. (…) And the government still has a lot to do in this regard,” Leanca said. // Europa Libera
