Mihai Ghimpu was registered as a candidate for president

Mihai Ghimpu, the candidate nominated by the Liberal Party, was registered by CEC as a candidate for President of the Republic of Moldova. Also, CEC registered the symbol of the electoral competitor and confirmed the name of candidate’s representative with consultative vote, as well as the person in charge of Ghimpu’s campaign finances.

It was established the ceiling for “Electoral Fund” account

According to a CEC decision, the ceiling is determined by multiplying a coefficient by the number of voters in the constituency where the elections are taking place. For the 2016 presidential elections, the coefficient was set at MDL 23.05. According to data from the State Register of Voters, as of September 13, 2016, the total number of voters included in the electoral lists of voters is of 2,854,557. Thus, to the “Electoral Fund” account of a candidate running for President can be transferred MDL 65,797,538.85.

“Dignity and Truth” Platform sued CEC and an electoral contestant

“Dignity and Truth” Platform sued the Central Electoral Commission for having received the signatures collected in favor of PDM leader Marian Lupu on a Saturday which is weekend. “Dignity and Truth” Platform accuses CEC of favoring the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party and requests the cancellation of documents submitted by him to register in the electoral race. // europalibera.org

PDM calls CEC not to register Andrei Nastase as a candidate

Democratic Party filed a complaint with the Central Electoral Commission requesting cancellation of the registration of the initiative group of Andrei Nastase and reject his registration as candidate. Democrats notification comes after the initiative group in support of Andrei Nastase said that CEC spends just MDL 200 for collecting signatures. // realitatea.md

3,237,072 — The total number of voters in the State Register of Voters

Central Electoral Commission states that the total number of voters in the State Register of Voters (SRV) on September 13, 2016 is of 3,237,072.

At the same time, the institution warns that from the total number of voters in SRV only 2,854,557 voters are assigned to administrative districts. The difference includes persons without residence and voting citizens residing in the administrative-territorial units from the left bench of Nistru.
