Voters can check electoral lists

Central Electoral Commission (CEC) announces that during the period October 10–29, 2016 voters can check electoral lists both in polling stations as well as online on Commission’s website. CEC also reiterates that a voter may be included only in one electoral list at one polling station based on ID attesting his legal residence in the perimeter of the respective polling station.

Dumitru Ciubasenco: we intend to create the fourth Moldavian Republic

In an interview with Radio Free Europe, “Our Party” candidate (PN) for President of the Republic of Moldova, Dumitru Ciubasenco, said that if elected president on October 30, he will help create the fourth Moldavian republic. “After the dissolution of parliament, early elections and formation of a new government, I will propose to convene a constituent assembly with wide representation, involving all political forces, regions, experts including foreign experts that will draft a new fundamental law, a new constitution, to be adopted through national referendum. I call it the Fourth Moldavian republic, which must be created on the basis of this constitution. The first republic was in 1918, the second was the Soviet Moldova, the third is Moldova we live today, and we intend to create a new Moldova, the fourth Moldavian republic. There are examples like this in Europe, France for instance”, said the PN candidate.

Silvia Radu launched her electoral campaign for October 30

The candidate for president, Silvia Radu, officially launched her campaign for the presidential election. In her speech, Silvia Radu said she would initiate economic reforms and promote social policies focused primarily on families. “I am convinced that the role and mission of the Moldovan president must be different than the current one”, said the candidate. Silvia Radu is the ninth in the ballot, and her campaign slogan is: “Silvia Radu — your independent president.” // IPN

Ombudsman: people with mental disabilities are denied the right to vote

People with mental disabilities are deprived of many rights, including the right to vote. In this regard, the Ombudsman Mihail Cotorobai said that if this issue will not be solved, they will appeal to the ECHR. In May 2015, from the electoral code it was excluded the provision that persons who are deprived of legal capacity have the right to vote. This exclusion violates UN conventions. // Agora

Vitalia Pavlicenco sues CEC

Vitalia Pavlicenco, contender for President of the Republic of Moldova, will sue the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) because she was not registered as a candidate for the elections of October 30. She hopes for a just trial to prove CEC wrong in the decision they took.
