Monitoring Report concludes that mass media had biased coverage of presidential candidates

The sixth media monitoring report produced by the Independent Press Association and the Independent Journalism Center, dedicated to mass-media coverage of the presidential electoral campaign, shows a 40% reduction in the number of TV electoral materials during the period of October 29 to November 5. Twelve monitored TV stations, have clearly favored Igor Dodon in terms of the context of coverage. He was mentioned 116 times in a positive context and 80 times in a negative one. Maia Sandu was more disadvantaged and was mentioned in a negative context in 146 materials and 103 times in positive materials. // IPN

The Socialists presented Igor Dodon’s top 10 achievements during his mandate as minister of economy

During a press conference, members of the Socialist Party presented the top 10 achievements of the presidential candidate Igor Dodon during the period he was minister of economy. Among the most important achievements, the Socialists mentionned: a 7% GDP growth; an 22% increase of salaries; increased pensions by almost 18%; import and export growth of 18%, etc. In the same time, the Socialists say that during the period when Igor Dodon was minister of economy nearly a thousand new enterprises have been establsihed.

Maia Sandu declares general mobilization to vote

Presidential candidate Maia Sandu and her campaign team has declared general voter mobilization. They marched on several streets in Chisinau to encourage people to get out on Sunday, November 13 and vote for a better future for Moldova. The presidential candidate said that this campaign was difficult and dirty, and her opponent, Igor Dodon, used lies and tried to manipulate and misinform the population. // IPN

EPP and ALDE chairmen released a joint statement on the November 13 elections

European People’s Party (EPP) chairman, Joseph Daul, and the chairman of the Alliance of Liberal and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), Hans van Baalen, released a joint statement regarding the presidential election runoff. “Moldovans want a strong economy, jobs and prosperity. We believe that only a pro-European President will be able to do these things. That is why we support Maia Sandu candidacy representing the pro-European forces and call upon Moldovans to vote for her on Sunday.” // Curentul

Several groups of citizens have expressed support for Igor Dodon

Socialist People’s Party of Moldova, socialist mayors and rayon presidents as well as a group of representatives of several ethnic groups in Moldova, launched a call of support in favor of the presidential candidate Igor Dodon. They criticized the work of former Education Minister Maia Sandu accusing her of closing schools and participating in the bank fraud. In the same time, they praised Dodon’s work when he was First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Member of Parliament and urged citizens to vote for Igor Dodon on November 13 presidential elections.
