Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” has decided to support the Maia Sandu on October 30 elections

Political Council of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPDA) confirmed the decision taken by party leader Andrei Nastase, to withdraw from the presidential election campaign in order to support Action & Solidarity Party candidate Maia Sandu. The decision was announced at a press conference Saturday in the Mandresti village, Telenesti rayon. Andrei Nastase motivated his decision by the need to advance a common candidate to avoid votes dispersion thus increasing chances to get into the second round and win elections. According to Andrei Nastase, this decision is a well thought one, in country and citizens’ best interests. Andrei Nastase mentioned that PPDA will support the common candidate because this is the only way they can overcome the Democratic Party candidate Marian Lupu. “Sometimes in life you have to know to step back when circumstances require this for the sake of the family or the country and the future of this country. I want the whole country to understand that we are able to get over some personal interests over some pride. This gesture shows exactly that — through unity we can overthrow the criminal regime that dishonors an entire country,” said the leader of the PDA. // IPN

The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova National Political Council decided, unanimously to support Maia Sandu as the common presidential candidate put forward jointly by the Party “Action and Solidarity” as well as the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” and the PLDM. “I appreciate the effort of our colleagues, because they came to this decision. I want to thank especially Andrei Nastase, president of PPDA, for his courage and the understanding of the historical moment we are going through. Next we must join our teams and efforts to support this candidate,” said PLDM leader Viorel Cibotaru.

EPP welcomes the decision of PDA, PAS and PLDM to support Maia Sandu for the position of President of the Republic of Moldova

According to a press release, the leader of the European People’s Party (EPP), Joseph Daul has stated that EPP has always been an advocate for the idea of a common candidate and is pleased to learn about the wise decision adopted by the three political parties. Joseph Daul stated that “EPP fully supports Maia Sandu, being the only candidate on the center-right pro-European that can represent and fight for the interests of every citizen of Moldova. Maia Sandu commitment to the principles and values of PPE, but also her determination to fight corruption, make the judiciary independent and strengthen laws will ensure Moldova’s path towards democracy and European integration”. On the other hand, Daul has expressed his deep regrets with regard to Iurie Leanca the leader of PPEM, who has contributed very little towards the process and withdrew early from the talks dedicated to identifying a sole candidate — in spite of the promise made to the EPP in 2016. EPP President stated that “the fragmentation of the center-right segment provides benefits for the pro-Russian politicians and oligarchs who are not interested in having a prosperous and democratic country. Given the designation of Maia Sandu, I strongly insist that Iurie Leanca withdraws from the race and supports the common candidate: every vote for the center-right-counts”. // Tribuna

Iurie Leanca does not withdraw from the electoral race

President of European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM) Iurie Leanca does not withdraw from the presidential race, despite the urge to do so from the part of the European People’s Party (EPP) leader, Joseph Daul. In a Facebook posting, PPEM leader, Iurie Leanca says that as long as he knows he can do good things, he will not stop. Iurie Leanca: “I will continue the presidential race. As long as I know I can do good things for my country, for my people, I will make every effort and dedicate all my energy. I have the required experience and knowledge to lead Moldova further towards West. I can be the President, Moldova needs. The other rightist candidates remaining in the presidential race still have much to learn to be able to lead the country. Dodon is my main opponent. I know that if the PSRM leader would win, he will lead the country to a dead end, with no future, so I will do everything possible to stop this from happening. I continue to move forward with optimism, regardless of the views of some politicians who have had unfortunate choices in the past, standing by some Moldovan leaders that have proved that they did not deserve it”.
